The word energy can feel complicated for Christians.
For some, it immediately brings up concerns about New Age practices, spiritual mixture, or unbiblical healing methods. That concern is valid. Many wellness spaces use words like energy, frequency, vibration, or alignment in ways that are tied to spiritual systems outside of Scripture.
So this is not a question we dismiss.
A thoughtful Christian should ask: What do we mean by energy? What is the source? What is the purpose? What worldview is attached to it?
At Whole Story Wellness, we believe discernment matters. We also believe fear should not be our teacher. God is love, and His perfect love casts out fear. When fear is driving our understanding of healing, the body, or the unseen world, we need to slow down and return to truth.
Energy Is Not Automatically Spiritual
One of the most important distinctions is this: energy is not automatically a spiritual concept.
In the created world, energy is part of how God designed the body and the physical universe to function. The body uses electrical communication. The heart has rhythm. The brain produces measurable activity. Cells communicate. Light affects biology. Sound affects the nervous system. The body responds to environment, stress, rest, breath, movement, and safety.
These are not New Age ideas. These are aspects of God’s created order.
The problem happens when people take created realities and attach unbiblical spiritual meanings to them. New Age systems often reinterpret energy as a divine force, universal consciousness, personal power source, or spiritual pathway apart from God.
That is where discernment becomes necessary.
When we use language like energy or frequency, we are not referring to a spiritual force, universal consciousness, chakras, spirit guides, or a source of power outside of God. We are referring to God’s created design — the ways the body communicates, responds, regulates, and functions within the order He created.
The Tool Is Not the Source
A biblical approach to healing must keep the source clear.
No modality, technology, scan, therapy, supplement, or wellness tool is the healer.
God is the healer.
Jesus is the source of freedom.
The Holy Spirit is the Counselor.
Everything else is secondary.
This distinction protects us from making a tool into an idol. It also protects us from fearfully rejecting anything that has been misused.
A tool may support the body, calm the nervous system, reduce stress, or help create conditions where a person can engage healing more safely. But the tool is never ultimate.
At Whole Story Wellness, supportive therapies are not used as spiritual practices or replacements for prayer, Scripture, biblical counseling, repentance, community, or dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Our framework is clear: every supportive tool we use must remain submitted to God, never elevated above Him.
Wholistic, Not New Age
This is why language matters.
Whole Story Wellness uses the word wholistic with a W intentionally.
We are not using “holistic” as a broad wellness category where every belief system, spiritual practice, or modality is treated as equally true.
Wholistic with a W means biblical wholeness.
It means the whole person — body, soul, and spirit — is brought under the loving care and lordship of Christ.
This matters deeply when discussing energy healing.
A Christian framework does not ask, “Can this help me access power?”
It asks:
Does this honor God’s design?
Does this require spiritual mixture?
Does this lead me toward Christ, truth, peace, stewardship, and freedom?
Or does it lead me toward fear, dependency, confusion, control, or a counterfeit source?
A Biblical Discernment Grid
When evaluating any energy-based modality, Christians can ask:
What is the source?
Is this being framed as part of God’s created order, or as a spiritual force apart from Him?
What does it claim?
Does it claim to support the body, or does it promise salvation, identity, deliverance, or spiritual power?
What does it require?
Does it require participation in chakras, spirit guides, divination, manifestation, universal consciousness, or emptying the mind?
What is the posture?
Is the person being invited into surrender to God, or into control apart from God?
What fruit does it produce?
Does it lead to peace, clarity, embodied stewardship, and truth — or fear, confusion, obsession, and spiritual mixture?
These questions help us discern without reacting from fear.
Healing Is More Than a Modality
Energy healing, from a Christian lens, must never become detached from the larger story of biblical healing.
The body matters because God created it.
The nervous system matters.
Trauma matters.
Biology matters.
Spiritual formation matters.
Community matters.
Truth matters.
Healing cannot be reduced to only the mind, only the body, or only the spiritual realm. We are whole people, and whole-person healing requires wisdom, discernment, and care for the full story.
That is why our work integrates biblical counseling, nervous system support, functional health, and Spirit-led discernment.
The Christian response is not careless openness.
And it is not fear-based avoidance.
It is Spirit-led discernment.
At Whole Story Wellness, our heart is to use every supportive tool with clarity, humility, and submission to God — never as a replacement for Him, but as part of caring for the body He designed.
Energy is not the healer.
God is.
And when we keep that order clear, we can ask better questions, practice wiser discernment, and pursue healing without fear.
